In 2007, Charlottetown will welcome over 30,000 passengers plus crew. And in 2008 with the completion of the new pier, 68,000 visitors will come to Charlottetown via cruise ship. Holland America, Princess Cruises, Norwegian Cruise Lines, Celebrity and Royal Caribbean will make Charlottetown a port of call in 2008.
Upon arriving at the Historic Charlottetown Seaport, your passenger’s arrival will be greeted by the sounds of fiddles and step dancers and the warm hospitality of Charlottetown’s Cruise ship Ambassadors, a volunteer group of residents who enthusiastically welcome passengers as they disembark.
Being an Island, we are known for our Island hospitality and the friendliness of our people. The Charlottetown Cruise Ship Ambassadors are noticeable by their brightly colored vests and are able to assist passengers with special needs, provide directions and visitor information. The Ambassadors are strategically placed at the port to distribute cruise ship maps, which will help passengers, navigate throughout the downtown. Canada's well-known and respected Royal Canadian Mounted Police are also portside, for that special photo opportunity; also lively step dancers are always ready to entertain.
For more information about the Cruise Ship Ambassador Program, please contact Tracey Singleton, Director of Cruise Ship Development at 902-566-2549.
Passengers and crew can preview the Charlottetown destination on www.walkandseacharlottetown.com. This web site allows you to view featured attractions, vacation planning guide, happenings, self-guided Charlottetown touring itineraries and Charlottetown visitor information.
The Cruise Ship Passenger Map (requires Adobe Acrobat Reader) is especially tailored to the cruise ship passenger and crew and will be distributed by the Ambassadors upon arrival. This user friendly map fits into your pocket and offers city wide information. The map highlights attractions, restaurants, shops, and golf within the Charlottetown area. It also offers suggested itineraries including shopping, historic and waterfront routes. The map doubles as a souvenir of the destination. If you are interested in receiving a copy of the map prior to coming to port, please contact requests@walkandseacharlottetown.com to request your free copy.
Just steps away from the cruise terminal are the Walk and Sea Charlottetown Visitor Centre, Founders’ Hall – Canada’s Birthplace Pavilion and SandLand. Make the Visitor Centre your first stop!
